The company’s methanol production technology from syngas is optimized for high efficiency and reliability, suitable for both natural gas and coal feedstocks. Syngas conditioning involves water-gas shift (WGS) to adjust H₂/CO ratio (2.0 - 2.1 for optimal methanol synthesis), followed by acid gas removal to < 10 ppm H₂S and CO₂. Methanol synthesis is carried out in low-pressure processes (50 - 100 bar) using highly active Cu-based catalysts, achieving single-pass conversions of 5 - 10% with overall conversions > 98% through recycle. The exothermic reaction heat is recovered for steam generation (1.5 - 2 tons of steam per ton of methanol), which can be used for SMR or power generation. Methanol distillation involves pre-fractionation, main distillation, and precision distillation columns, producing AA-grade methanol (ASTM D1152) with low ethanol content (< 50 ppm). The company’s technology has been implemented in multiple plants worldwide, with demonstrated reliability (availability > 95%) and low maintenance requirements.
